LEWISTON — Area students recently made the following donations to the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society, 55 Strawberry Ave., Lewiston.
GAHS provides a safe haven for more than 4,200 sick, homeless and abused animals in the greater Androscoggin area each year. The primary support for the shelter comes from fundraising events and donations of concerned citizens.

On April 19, Daniel Watson of Poland presented the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society with the donations from his sixth birthday. Daniel, a kindergarten student at Poland Community School, asked for donations for the pets in lieu of birthday gifts. Party guests generously donated pet food, treats, toys and litter.
On April 17, Sarah Brown of New Gloucester presented the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society with the donations from her 11th birthday. Madison, a fifth-grade student at St. Dominic’s Academy, asked for donations for the pets in lieu of birthday gifts. Party guests generously donated $40, pet food and toys.
