AVON — Quorum Health Resources announced the winners of the 2014 Excellence in Leadership awards at its Annual Leadership Conference on June 4 in Nashville, Tenn.
Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans, Vt., received two of the top honors. NMC earned the award for best overall performance among hospitals their size and CEO Jill Berry Bowen earned the QHR CEO of the Year award. Bowen is a native of Avon.
Bowen has led NMC to strong performance in quality and financial measures while working to expand access to care in the community, promote wellness and prevention and improve the patient experience. Her leadership has helped the hospital earn numerous national awards, including: Avatar awards for overall patient satisfaction for six consecutive years; The Governor’s Gold Award for employee wellness for nine consecutive years; and multiple quality awards from the Joint Commission — including its most recent recognition as a top performer for pneumonia care.
Bowen’s career path started as a registered nurse with leadership roles at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington as its chief operating officer for 12 years, and Mercy Hospital in Portland as the vice president of clinical services and chief nursing officer for five years.
