FARMINGTON — Police arrested a man from West Freeman Township on Wednesday on a felony charge of gross sexual assault involving an adult with special needs.

Joseph K. Champagne, 37, was arrested at the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday afternoon by Detective Kenneth Charles, Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr. said in a news release.

Although police believe the assault occurred in March, a recent disclosure from the victim led to an investigation by Charles and the arrest, Nichols said.
