SUN CITY, Ariz. — Sarah Meltzer Smalley, 100, a native of Auburn, died after a brief illness on Friday, July 11, in Sun City, Ariz.
Sarah was born Jan. 28, 1914, the daughter of Solomon and Leah Meltzer. She graduated from Edward Little High School in 1931 and the University of Maine in 1935. She later returned to the univeristy, obtaining a master’s degree in English, which she taught at Sabbatus High School and at Edward Little Hight Schools.
Sarah married Sam Smalley in 1936. They had two children, Brian and Alison. Sarah was active in the Beth Abraham Synagogue Sisterhood and enjoyed playing violin, cooking, golfing and playing bridge.
