Maniacs 46, Rising Stars 23

The Maniacs 15 -U girls’ basketball team played their third Pool Play game Wednesday night in Washington, D.C., defeating the New Jersey Rising Stars 46-23 behind a solid defensive effort.

Ashley Howe led the Maniacs with a game-high 16 points and Montana Braxton followed with 10. Chloe Smedley added seven points and CeCe Hancock scored six. Smedley and Braxton led the team with seven rebounds each, Caitlin Kane recorded four rebounds, three steals and three assists while Emily Jacques scored five points and had four rebounds.

Maddy Hasson had four rebounds as did Dom Lewis along with three steals.

Maniacs 55, Drill for Skills 43

The Maine Maniacs 15 girls basketball team squared off against the Pennsylvania Drill for Skills team in Pool Play of the U.S. Junior Nationals Wednesday afternoon.

The Maniacs trailed by as much as eight points into the second half before finishing the last 10 minutes strong and pulling away at the end for a 55-43 victory.

Center Emily Jacques of Edward Little led another balanced scoring attack for Maine with 12 points and added a team-high seven rebounds and five blocked shots.

South Portland‘s Maddy Hasson and Cape Elizabeth‘s Montana Braxton scored nine each with Braxton notching five steals. Dom Lewis of Lawrence High School added eight points.

Anna Hows led Pennsylvania with 12 points. The Maniacs stand at 2-0 with another Pool game this evening.
