Lewiston Police/Code Enforcement Liason Officer Jeff Baril, center, stands over an unresponsive Walton Shattuck, 56, in the middle of Shawmut Street on Sunday afternoon. Baril said he was driving down Pine Street when he saw Shattuck with a knife, chasing a woman. Two unknown men knocked the knife, in grass at left, out of Shattuck’s hand after pushing him to the ground, Baril said. Baril restrained the suspect until additional police officers arrived. When United Ambulance arrived, Shattuck sat up and admitted to drinking a fifth of 100-proof alcohol. He was checked at a hospital. Shattuck was taken to the Androscoggin County Jail, and was charged with disorderly conduct and terrorizing. Bail was set at $300.
