AUBURN — To accommodate the growing public interest in traditional metalsmithing it has become necessary for the New England School of Metalwork to expand its facility.

Executive Director Dereck Glaser started the New England School of Metalwork in 2000 with local corporate support and has built the school from the ground up, filling the demand for a professional and dynamic educational facility for students to learn the art of forging.

In 2009, NESM became an official educational member of the Artist Blacksmiths Association of North America and an official educational facility for the American Bladesmith Society.

Located on the same campus as NESM’s previous facility, the new work area will offer increased student capacity, a more efficient layout and a more intimate and relaxed atmosphere.

The New England School of Metalwork offers classes for every skill level ranging from 3-10 days, year round. Onsite accommodations are available. It is located at 7 Albiston Way, just off the rotary in Auburn. For more information, call 777-6211.
