WILTON — The Board of Selectmen unanimously voted to change its name to selectboard.
Some members expressed the hope that the change would result in more women being involved in town government.
The board members are D. Scott Taylor, Tiffany Maiuri, John Black, Tom Saviello and Paul Berkey. Rhonda Irish is town manager and Heidi Wilcox is police chief.
The board unanimously accepted a bid of $7,500 from Adam Coffin of Wilton for property at 509 Depot St. Coffin told the board he plans to renovate the house for a single-family home. The property is across from the Forster Manufacturing mill.
The house was owned by a bank in Florida. The former owner moved away, leaving the property to foreclosure, Irish previously said.
The town acquired the property this past spring for $2,501.47 in unpaid taxes, Irish said. There are also bills owed to the Sewer Department.
No taxes will be collected on the property for this year, Irish told the board.
She also said the town would enter into mediation with the Forster mill owner, Adam Mack, on Sept. 19.
The town has brought a lawsuit against Mack’s company, Wilton Recycling LLC, to have the partially demolished building deemed dangerous and give the town the right to finish demolition.
