FARMINGTON — Franklin County employees and officials will take part in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, in the parking lot of the County Courthouse.

The challenge is to raise money and raise awareness of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

County representatives are also participating in the 2014 Walk to Defeat ALS at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at Hayford Park in Bangor.
