1927 – 2014

LEWISTON — Clayton “Thurlow” Wilkins, 87, of Livermore Falls, passed away at d’Youville Pavilion on Tuesday, Aug. 19, with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Livermore on April 21, 1927, a son of Earl Wilkins and Helen (Norton) Wilkins. After graduating from Livermore Falls High School, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. In 1975, he married Ella Norris in Turner. He worked in security at International Paper and retired in 1989.

He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, logging, raising Morgan horses, watching the Boston Red Sox, playing cribbage and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Ella (Norris) Wilkins; his children, Cathy (Paul) McQuarrie of Lewiston, Clayton (Susan) T. Wilkins, Jr. of Livermore Falls, Julie (Robert) Dumond of Lewiston, E. Jeffrey Wilkins (Charlotte) of Livermore Falls, Tamara (Roger) Ferland of Livermore and James (Kirstie) Wilkins of Livermore Falls; his stepchildren, Gail Hatch of Livermore Falls, Elaine Buckley of Leeds, Christine (Tom) Mitchell of Fayette, Gloria (Vinnie) Diaz of Livermore Falls, Doreen (Fred) von Aesch of Chesterville, Glenda Amburg and companion, Vern Ford, of Madison and Cliff Amburg of Livermore Falls; siblings, Bernal (Glennys) Wilkins of Winthrop, Beryl Griffin of Storrs, Conn., Vivian Fuller of Jay, Claire Flagg of Livermore Falls, Orman (Jane) Wilkins of Livermore Falls, Merton Wilkins of Tolland, Conn., Alton (Cynthia) Wilkins of Livermore Falls, Hersey (Jeannine) Wilkins of Livermore Falls and Marcia (Edward) Hamblin of Livermore; his sister-in-law, Arlene Wilkins and companion, Tom Randall, of Livermore Falls; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents, Earl and Helen Wilkins; his son, Bradley, in 1975; his brother, Colby, in 1978; and three brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law.
