Edward Little High School senior Kim Mongeau looks through an Aqua-Scope to view the bottom of Lake Auburn, the location of the intake pipe that supplies water to the twin cities. She and several other EL students, left, have been involved in a volunteer project this summer monitoring runoff throughout the watershed. During a weeklong trip to the University of Maine they assembled a monitoring station and recently installed it to measure stormwater runoff. Next to Mongeau is Mary Jane Dillingham, water quality manager for the Auburn Water District, measuring the depth of the lake. At far right is EL teacher and biologist Brandy McFadden and John Storer, superintendent of the Auburn Water District.
