It’s ironic how someone can take another person’s life because they “snitched.” Then, his “friend” that acted along with him testifies against him, “snitching.” It will more than likely earn Michael McNaughton a life sentence. And his accomplice taking a deal to save himself? Ironic.
Now, I’m no angel. As I write this in a cell at Maine State Prison, it never ceases to amaze me the poor choices people make in life. Myself included.
To make the choice to actively be involved in a murder of someone, and a situation they had no criminal connection to in the first place, is an enigma all in itself. How does one justify that decision?
Ten to 20 years in prison. Maybe life? Such a disastrous waste of precious time. Time and life you don’t get back.
How many lives have been devastated by such an act? How many kids grow up without a parent or parents because of incidents like this?
What if the defendant is, in fact, innocent as some might believe? What a huge injustice he has been a victim of. However, he chose to be involved to get rid of a “snitch,” only to — in turn — be testified against by a “snitch,” which likely led to his guilty verdict.
Nothing but sorrow goes out to the victim, as well as any family members of those involved. Everyone loses in a situation like this. We need to change the way we think as people.
