A benefit for Jimmy Roy, who needs a kidney transplant, was held on June 22 when some 300 supporters attended at Holy Cross Church Hall, Lewiston. Roy, shown at right shaking hands with Tony Delcourt, is on the transplant waiting list at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon, N.H. Roy’s family and the local Knights of Columbus organized the benefit to defray costs of post-transplant medications that Roy will need to take for the rest of his life and to raise awareness of the need for organ donation. Stuart Scott, a member of Roy’s transplant team from Dartmouth-Hitchcock, attended the event to answer questions about organ donation. The event featured a spaghetti dinner, music by fiddlers Greg and Jessie Boardman and raffles for prizes donated by the community. Jimmy Roy and his brother, Jason Roy, represent the third generation to run Roy’s Bike Shop, Farwell Street, which they operate with mother Marielle.
