PORTLAND — Police say a taxi driver was assaulted by his passenger, which resulted in a car crash at around 11:15 p.m. Saturday.
The driver picked up the passenger on the 800 block of Forest Avenue and drove him to an area near Walton Street and Bigley Court, where the passenger allegedly attacked him and demanded money, according to a press release sent by Lt. Gary Hutchinson of the Portland Police Department.
The driver, who works for ASAP Taxi, reportedly crashed into a tree because of the attack. The driver and the passenger got out of the vehicle, and the altercation reportedly continued. The suspect allegedly pulled out a handgun, then fled the scene, the news release said.
The diver was treated for minor injuries, and the Portland police were not able to find the alleged attacker.
Police say the attacker is a white male in his mid-20s with a shaved head, and he possibly has a beard and mustache.
