1930 – 2014

NORWAY — M. Jeanette P. Snow, 84, of Norway, died Thursday, Sept. 11, at the Norway Center for Health and Rehabilitation.

She was born in Hebron on May 13, 1930, a daughter of Henry and Elmeda (Johnson) Paradis, and attended Paris High School. In 1947, she married Gordon Snow of Norway, and together they built a home and raised two daughters. In their “retirement,” they owned and operated Pennesseewassee Sport Shop.

She was always a very supportive mother and grandmother, and made sure her daughters had a good education. Her granddaughter, Allyson, describes her as a “kickass” pie-maker who would dance and sing in the kitchen.

Surviving are two daughters, Jacquelyn Governale and her husband, John, of Norway and Anita Hakala and her husband, Stephen, of Norway; two sisters, Cora Payne of South Paris and Marie McAllister of Oxford; a brother, Richard Paradis and his wife, Nan, of Farmingdale; grandchildren, Allyson Hill and her partner, Dave Brown, Seth Hakala and his wife, Tara, Eliza Tufts and her husband, Mike, Joseph Governale and his wife, Dvorah, Michael Governale, Sofie Zane and her husband, Dave, and Danny Governale and his wife, Jamie; and great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Bailey, Kaleb, Dante, Sarah, “Buddy” and Michaela.

Jeanette was predeceased by her husband in 2003; an infant son, Michael, in 1948; and two brothers, Henry and Lester Paradis.
