FAIRFIELD — Mikayla Morin scored a hat trick as Oxford Hills sailed to a 4-1 victory over Lawrence in girls’ soccer action Saturday afternoon.
The Vikings led 2-0 at the half.
Leah Dudley scored the only Bulldog goal at 16:57 of the second half.
Goalies Paige Belanger and Lauren Wadeleigh made six combined saves for Lawrence, while goalie Sam Bickford fended off five to earn the win in net for Oxford Hills.
Waterville 5, Leavitt 0
WATERVILLE — Sarah Shoulta scored two first-half goals as Waterville coasted to a 5-0 shutout victory over Leavitt in girls’ soccer action Saturday afternoon.
Pilar Elias scored a pair of second half goals, and Fatini Shanos capped the scoring for the Panthers.
Goalie Angie Daigle made 17 saves for the Hornets, while goalie Gabrielle Martin turned away five shots to earn the win in net for Waterville.
Boys’ soccer
Waterville 3, Leavitt 1
WATERVILLE — Brandon Brown-Exner scored the eventual game-winning tally as Waterville dispatched Leavitt 3-1 in boys’ soccer action Saturday afternoon.
The Panthers (2-1) led 2-0 at the half. Dalton Henderson and Danilo Guthro recorded the remaining Waterville goals.
Tyler Roux scored the lone Hornet (4-3) goal to spoil the Waterville shutout.
Goalie Ben Fullerton made five saves for Leavitt, while goalie Liam Edwards stopped seven to earn the win in net for Waterville.

Football
Middlebury 27, Colby 7
WATERVILLE — A big first half lifted Middlebury to a 27-7 victory over Colby in NESCAC football action Saturday at Harold Alfond Stadium.
The Panthers (1-1) scored on two long drives in the first quarter, and posted another touchdown and field goal in the second quarter for a 24-7 lead at the half.
The Mules (0-2) got their only touchdown of the game with 5:49 remaining in the half. Luke Duncklee of Augusta had two catches for 19 yards. Carl Lipani had one rush of five yards and then crashed in from two yards for the score.
Amherst 30, Bowdoin 7
BRUNSWICK — Amherst College scored twice in a span of 47 seconds in the third quarter to pull away from Bowdoin in a 30-7 victory Saturday at Whittier Field.
Alex Berlutti went 11-for-15 for 187 yards passing for the Jeffs (2-0), including a 97-yard touchdown strike to Jackson McGonagle, the longest passing play in Amherst school history.
The Polar Bears (0-2) were able to get on the scoreboard late in the fourth quarter, going 79 yards in 11 plays with a 28-yard pass from Mac Caputi to Drew Prescott. Caputi leaped in for the score with 45 seconds remaining to make it a 30-7 final.
WNEU 80, Maine Maritime 16
CASTINE — Western New England University went on an offensive tear as the Golden Bears notched an 80-16 victory over Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Bears matched the Mariners opening scoring drive but trailed 8-6 on a failed two-point conversion. Western New England went on to score two more times in the first quarter and three times in the second for a 38-10 halftime lead.
Jacob Doolan recorded 116 rushing yards on 12 carries and a touchdown for the Mariners, while catching one pass for 34 yards resulting in a touchdown.
Men’s soccer
UMF 4, Green Mountain 3
POULTNEY, Vt. — The University of Maine at Farmington earned its’ first win of the 2014 season with a 4-3 victory over Green Mountain College in men’s soccer action Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles scored the first goal of the game in the 34th minute when Nazar Zhukovskyy found the back of the net.
The Beavers (1-5-1) did not waste any time tying the game when Jordan Luks’ penalty kick goal evened the score 49 seconds into the second half. UMF took a 4-2 lead when Ryan Fairbanks booted an unassisted tally with less than 10 minutes remaining.
Bates 3, Trinity 0
HARTFORD, Conn. — Bates College got off to a quick start, scoring a trio of first half goals to secure a 3-0 victory over Trinity in NESCAC men’s soccer action Saturday at Campus Field.
Bates’ first-year midfielder Nate Merchant and first-year defender Max Watson scored their first collegiate goals in the contest.
Merchant opened the scoring as he chipped a shot past the opposing goalie in the 17th minute of action. Later in the opening half, sophomore forward Peabo Knoth and Watson added unassisted tallies for the Bobcats (1-6-1).
Women’s soccer
Bates 2, Trinity 1 (OT)
HARTFORD, Conn. — Senior Dakota Donovan scored the game-ending goal in overtime, completing the Bates women’s soccer team’s 2-1 comback victory at Trinity College Saturday afternoon.
Just under five minutes into overtime, Donovan scored an unassisted tally, her career and team-high fourth goal this season, to ice the third straight victory for Bates.
A little over six and a half minutes into the second half, the Bobcats (6-2) evened the game at one as sophomore Erin Shea scored on a header.
UMF 6, Green Mountain 0
POULTNEY, Vt. — Avalon Amador scored the opening goal as the University of Maine at Farmington buzzed Green Mountain College 6-0 in NAC women’s soccer action Saturday.
Keli McLellan scored her first goal of the season in the 24th minute to put the Beavers (2-4) up 3-0. And, Kati Kenney kicked the final goal of the first half for her first goal of her UMF career to make it 4-0 at the midpoint. The Beavers generated plenty of offense as UMF outshot the Eagles 27-6 and putting the team back on track after a three-game skid.
Women’s hockey
Maine 2, New Hampshire 1
ORONO — Kelsey MacSorley scored the eventual game-winning goal at 14:06 of the second period to lift the University of Maine to a 2-1 triumph over the University of New Hampshire in women’s ice hockey action at Alfond Arena Saturday afternoon.
Margo Lund put the Wildcats on the board first at 3:39 in the opening period. But, the Black Bears answered back at 11:27 when Hailey Browne fired the puck from just outside the face-off circle and into the back of the net.
