PARIS — A dog perished and a family was displaced after a fire consumed a trailer and camper Sunday at 34 Alysas Way.

Approximately 14 firefighters from Paris, Norway and Oxford responded to the call of a structure fire at 12:43 p.m. Sunday afternoon, which razed a single-family trailer to its foundation, according to Paris fire Chief Brad Frost.

The occupants, Richard and Melody Hosey, escaped safely, though one of their two dogs died in the fire.

As crews battled the blaze, high winds helped embers ignite a camper parked behind the home, gutting it, Frost said.

The scene is reached from Route 119 to Inman Road to Brook Road to Alysas Way.

The remote location of the narrow, private, dead-end road made access for firefighters difficult, he said. Water was pumped from a pond at the base of the road, which climbs over a small hill, several hundred feet to the scene.

There were no injuries, according to Frost. Crews departed several hours later.

The American Red Cross is assisting the family with basic supplies. The occupants are believed to be staying with family members.
