FARMINGTON — Two teens were injured in a crash on Webster Road at noon on Monday.
Peter Chavez of Jay and Veronica Davis of Livermore Falls were taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital by NorthStar ambulances, Farmington police officer Derek MacDonald said. Chavez was up and walking around the scene, but Davis was taken from the car on a backboard, he said.
According to police, they were passengers in a 2002 Chevy Malibu driven by Stephen Sylvester, 17, of Livermore.
Sylvester was driving south on the dirt road and had just passed Robin’s Flower Pot. He was fooling around, turning the steering wheel back and forth and was driving a little too fast for the 45 mph speed limit, MacDonald said.
Sylvester apparently overcorrected the steering wheel, went off the road to the left through several small trees and brush and hit a larger birch tree, caving in the roof on the back, right side of the car where Davis was sitting in the back seat. Chavez was riding in the front passenger seat.
Charges are pending, MacDonald said. Sylvester was not injured.
Residents who lived just beyond the accident scene heard a crash and went to help the occupants.
Franklin County Sheriff’s Deputy Colt Bernhardt helped MacDonald at the scene. Members of Farmington Fire and Rescue also responded to help.
The vehicle was towed by Collins Wrecker of Wilton.
