OTISFIELD — The Western Maine Chapter of the Small Woodland Owners Association of Maine will present a program titled Introduction to Chain Saw Safety and Operation from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16.
Rich Merk, president of SWOAM, will host the event with his wife, Beth, at their tree farm at 216 Forrest Edwards Road. Much of the program will be inside but there will be an outside demonstration of felling and limbing trees. The program will include reviewing chain saw parts, safety issues, proper safety attire and equipment, as well as basics of movement and preparation for using the chain saw on trees and brush.
The program is open to SWOAM members and the general public. Registration is required by emailing Merk at [email protected] or calling 207-415-1628. Signs will be posted Sunday morning at nearby road intersections. Coffee will be provided.
