OTISFIELD — Police identified the driver of a pickup truck demolished in a high-speed crash Tuesday as 46-year-old Mark Male of Otisfield.

Maine State Police Trooper Adam Fillebrown said Male was in serious condition Wednesday at Central Medical Center in Lewiston where he was being treated for facial and other injuries.

Male, of 251 Ahonen Road, left a logging yard on Ahonen Road and was driving on East Swampville Road when the truck swerved into a ditch, struck a low stone wall, rolled several times and landed upside down on the one-lane dirt road, police said. The impact ripped the cab off, twisted the frame, demolished the bed and left the tailgate almost 50 yards from where the truck stopped.

Debris was strewn along a 150-foot stretch of the road, which runs between Bell Hill and Bolsters Mill roads.

Male managed to drag himself out of the cab and was found by several hunters, police said.

The truck was registered to Mark McAllister of Waterford and Fillebrown said it had been stolen.

The crash remains under investigation.
