FARMINGTON — Two hundred colorful shopping totes containing specials, coupons and gifts await the first 200 women who attend Saturday’s Ladies’ Day Out in downtown Farmington.

“Well over 200 attended last year,” said Marsha Planting, co-owner of the Calico Patch. “It was a really upbeat, fun and well-attended event.”

Beginning at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, women can pick up a tote at the Calico Patch on Broadway for the discount guide of participating businesses and events planned from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Along with a percentage off items or store wide at several businesses, opportunities to win gift baskets or a massage, special events have been planned.

In celebration of the day, the Farmington Historical House will offer tea at the Octagon House on the corner of High and Perham streets, with two limited seatings at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Tickets for a $5 donation can be pre-purchased at the Calico Patch or any that are left will be available at the door on Saturday.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., United Way of the Tri-Valley Area on Broadway will offer a chance to decorate a snowflake for $5.

A complimentary mini stone massage will be offered Saturday during an open house at Serenity Holistic Massage.

Open houses are to be held at Divine Inspirations and Cristi Demarco Acupuncture, where green smoothies and sample sessions will be available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Women also can register their gift preferences at various businesses for a new event this year, a Men’s Night, from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21.

Along with the provided gift suggestion, free gift wrapping and beer and food tasting will be provided for male shoppers who attend.

Both events are sponsored by the Farmington Downtown Association.
