RUMFORD — Rumford Elementary School will host its annual Harvest Bingo Night at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24, teacher Marie Tanguay said Tuesday.
The idea for came from a parent four or five years ago to find something fun for families to do together, she said.
“Every year, on the Monday before Thanksgiving, we hold the Bingo Night,” Tanguay said. “It’s become quite a popular event. All of our tables usually fill up.”
Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with bingo starting at 6 p.m.
“Bingo only lasts until 7 p.m.,” Tanguay said. “We try to keep the night short, because we know there are kids there and it’s on a weekday.”
Players can purchase cards for a quarter, with winners receiving baked goods, including pies and cakes.
At the end of the night, a large, frozen turkey will be raffled off.
Tanguay said several teachers and parents do the baking.
“We also reach out every year to the Hannaford grocery store in Rumford, and they usually donate a frozen turkey,” Tanguay said. “I haven’t heard anything from them so far, but they’re usually good about donating a turkey for our Bingo Night.”
