PERU- Yvonne Allen and Deb Sharp, along with countless other volunteers of Schoolhouse Consignments, have been busy readying the former library and office in the recreation center for you to come check out the various items on sale.
As you enter through the Main Street door, you will be able to find anything from old perfume collectibles and dolls to jewelry, crafts and handmade quilts All items are reasonably priced and proceeds go to the maintenance of the building.
“Everything is really coming together,” noted Sharp. “We’ve spent a lot of time getting things cleaned and organized up here.”
Volunteers have taken their time to put together nice displays of items for sale and hope you’ll consider bringing your craft items in to sell, as well.
There is a 25 percent consignment fee that will go directly to the Friends of Peru Elementary School and the rest goes back to the craftsman. Or, you can choose to donate one or more items directly to FPES.
Across the hall from the former library is the old office, where the indoor yard sale is set up. All items have been donated to FPES and the proceeds from each sale will stay go to their account, as well.
If you’re interested in spending a couple hours a week or more volunteering your time, please stop in and introduce yourself to Yvonne and Deb. They would love to be able to help local students earn their community service hours.
Schoolhouse Consignments is open Thursday from noon until 7 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
While you’re there, consider bringing a non-perishable item for the Servant’s Heart Food Pantry, which is located downstairs.
