AUGUSTA (AP) — The certification process for Maine medical marijuana patients is moving online.
The Maine Division of Licensing and Regulatory Services says providers will be required to use a new online tool to certify patients.
Starting January 5, patients will begin receiving certification cards directly from their health care providers. Patients will also now get a ‘designation card,’ which they have to give to the caregiver or dispensary when they want to get marijuana.
Currently, medical marijuana patients voluntarily register with the state to receive a card and the applications are processed manually.
Certifications issued before Jan. 5 can be used until they expire.
