LIVERMORE — The Town Office staff has agreed to several proposals in order to lessen a projected overdraft in the Office Administrative Department budget, town Administrative Assistant Carrie Castonguay said Tuesday.

She said staff agreed to take time off instead of pay for accumulated compensation time, and to not use the temporary fill-in position, unless necessary.

Selectpersons took no action on the Castonguay’s proposals Monday, she said.

Castonguay asked selectpersons Dec. 29 to brainstorm ideas to find savings in the Office Administrative Department. At that time, 52.62 percent, or $69,702.48 of the $132,452.50 budget, had been spent. The budget covers spending from July 1, 2014, to June 30, 2015.

One reason for the spending increase is additional compensation for staff to temporarily assume duties done by former Administrative Assistant Kurt Schaub who left in April 2014 for another job.

Castonguay did not take over the administrative assistant position until mid-August.

Castonguay said she presented the board with year-end budget projections for the Office Administrative Department.

By taking the measures for comp time and restricting use of the fill-in position, she said the department will be an estimated $2,900 over budget versus approximately $13,500.

Town Office staff stopped accumulating compensation time once the new Town Office hours went into effect in November, Castonguay said.

Factored into the new office hours are two hours the office is not open, which allows staff to do reports required by the state, among other work.
