PARIS — A Mexico man appeared in 11th District Court on Monday on a charge that he sold heroin to an undercover informant, according to court records.

Roland S. Foster, 42, was arrested Friday on a single count of aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs following a raid on his apartment by agents with the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.

The charge is an aggravated offense because of a prior drug trafficking conviction in 2005. If convicted, he faces a maximum of 30 years in prison.

Foster did not enter a plea to the charge Monday. Bail was set at $3,500 cash or personal recognizance with a Maine Pre-trial Services contract.

According to a police affidavit, an undercover informant purchased an unknown amount of heroin from Foster in September. Acting on new information, agents obtained a search warrant for the apartment and conducted the raid Jan. 23. Foster was arrested without incident.

Additional charges are expected to be presented to a grand jury, according to the affidavit.

Foster is scheduled to appear in court May 5.
