LIVERMORE FALLS — The downtown may have two new businesses within the next few months, if plans submitted by resident Wes Bowen are completed.

The Livermore Falls Planning Board late last month reviewed plans for the main floor and basement of a Depot Street site that had once been home to the Riverview Pub.

Bowen owns the building occupied by The Little Emporium. Tentative plans call for opening a used household goods and antique store on the main floor. In the 2,500-square-foot basement, Bowen wants to establish a lounge.

Although the Planning Board approved both proposals, Bowen was directed to contact the Office of the Maine State Fire Marshal to discuss the lounge and to make sure it meets all the safety and other requirements set forth by that office.

The Planning Board is also in the midst of reviewing and revising the town’s Comprehensive Plan that was last updated 20 years ago. Much has changed since the mid-1990s.

The board is working with personnel from the Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments. Once revised, public hearings will be held and residents will decide whether to accept it.

The Planning Board generally meets at 6:30 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month.
