TURNER — More details about a former Turner man wanted in the murder of his wife in Michigan in January were posted by the Allegan County Sheriff’s Department in Michigan on Thursday afternoon.
The department’s Facebook page was updated with a photo of Harold “Butch” Knight wearing camouflage overalls, with dyed dark hair and a moustache.
The website noted that Knight’s vehicle was found abandoned in Franklin County on Jan. 16.
The body of Sarah Lee Porter-Knight, 48, was found in her home on Jan. 13 in Fennville, Mich. According to police, Knight phoned police to tip them off to his wife’s death and then fled. Police said Porter-Knight’s body showed signs of strangulation. Michigan police issued a murder arrest warrant for Knight, 66.
Porter-Knight was hired in 2007 by Central Maine Medical Center and was described as “beloved” by one co-worker. She left CMMC about two years ago, returned to school to get a health care-related degree and, after struggling to find a job in the area, moved to Michigan in May. Her husband stayed in Turner until last fall. The couple had been married for 13 years.
Knight is 6 feet, 4 inches tall, weighs 265 pounds and, according to police, is believed to be armed and dangerous.
