Gray-New Gloucester 63, Poland 60
GRAY — Senior guard Tyler St. Pierre collected a team-high 21 points as Gray-New Gloucester dispatched Poland 63-60 to earn a spot in the Class B West playoffs in WMC boys’ basketball action Thursday.
The Patriots (8-10) managed a 36-29 hafltime lead. Andreas Kariotis notched a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds for Gray-New Gloucester.
Senior forward Alan Young recorded a game-high 23 points, while Derek Michaud tossed five field goals, inlcuding four from 3-point range for the reigning regional champion Knights (8-10).
Oxford Hills 65, Mt. Blue 51
FARMINGTON — Oxford Hills used a 21-10 second-quarter run to take command and raced away to post a 65-51 victory over Mt. Blue in a KVAC boys’ basketball Thursday evening.
Tyus Ripley led the Vikings with 16 points, while Jake Beauchesne and Andrew Fleming each added 12.
Zack Mittelstadt paced the Cougars (1-17) with 14 points, while Brad Durrell contributed 10.
Girls’ basketball
Monmouth 50, Wiscasset 34
MONMOUTH — Sidney Wilson tossed a game-high 14 points as Monmouth stampeded to a 50-34 victory over Wiscasset in MVC girls’ basketball Thursday.
The Mustangs (13-4) took a 25-8 halftime lead. Tia Day contributed 10 points for Monmouth.
Alecia Faulkingham paced the Wolverines (4-14) with a team-leading 10 points in the losing effort.
Winslow 53, Leavitt 51 (OT)
WINSLOW — Senior guard Devin Fitzgibbons tossed a team-leading 22 points, including a game-tying free throw in overtime, just before sophomore guard Ciara LeClair converted a layup to lift Winslow to a 53-51 victory over Leavitt in KVAC girls’ basketball Thursday.
Freshman forward Sophie Gilbert notched a double-double with 26 points and 11 rebounds for the Hornets (7-11). Chantel Eells contributed nine points with 10 rebounds and four blocks for Leavitt.
Heather Kervin added 11 points and nine rebounds for the Black Raiders (10-8) in the winning effort.
Spruce Mountain 53, Waterville 30
JAY — Senior center Sam Richards netted a game-high 15 points and nine rebounds to lead Spruce Mountain to a comfortable 53-30 victory over Waterville and an undefeated regular season in KVAC girls’ basketball.
The Phoenix (18-0) took a 25-10 halftime lead en route to their 38th straight home win. Kailee Newcomb contributed 11 points for Spruce Mountain.
Junior guard Fotini Shanos tossed a team-leading 12 points in the losing effort.
Gray-New Gloucester 37, Poland 19
GRAY — After building a nine-point advantage in the first half Thursday Gray-New Gloucester went on a 10-1 third-quarter run and cruised to a 37-19 win over Poland in a regular season finale.
Alicia Dumont led the powerhouse Patriots (17-1) with eight points, while Skye Conley tallied seven and Maria Valente added six.
Hope Kohtala and Caroline Littlefield paced the Knights (9-9) with five points each.
Oak Hill 59, Mt. Abram 17
SALEM — Oak Hill built an insurmountable 20-point advantage in the first half before rolling on to a 59-17 rout over Mt. Abram in a MVC girls’ basketball season finale Thursday.
Bri Mulherin led the Raiders (12-6) with 11 points, while Sadie Goulet, Danielle Samson and Grace Sabine chipped in with eight points each in a well-balanced attack.
The Roadrunners (2-16) were paced by Olivia Ryan with five points, while Sally Stevens added four.
Lisbon 40, St. Dom’s 37
AUBURN — Lisbon used a 20-5 third-quarter run to edge St. Dom’s, 40-37, in an MVC regular season basketball finale Thursday.
Bree Sautter and Jasmine Le led the Greyhounds (4-14) with 12 points apiece. Mikayla Yanez chipped in with seven.
The Saints (6-12) were led by Allie Veinote with 12 points effort. Faith Grady contributed 11.
Mountain Valley 48, Carrabec 41
NORTH ANSON — Mountain Valley went on a 16-2 run in the second frame and held off a late rally by Carrabec to post a 48-41 MVC girls’ basketball Thursday.
Ashley Russell led the Falcons (12-5) with 17 points, while Karen Flaherty chipped in 13. Emma Pluntke topped the Cobras (11-7) with 14 points. Mickayla Willette eight.
Unified basketball
LEWISTON — Abdi Dagane scored a game-high 16 points to lead Lewiston to a 48-26 triumph over Edward Little in the season opener of unified basketball Thursday evening.
The Blue Devils (1-0) jumped out to a 20-8 first quarter lead. Connor Jewett contributed 12 points for Lewiston. Amsden Hayes tossed a team-leading 12 points for the Red Eddies (0-1).
