BANGOR (AP) — A Portland man accused of firing shots at police during a standoff in Bangor is being held on $100,000 bail.

Officers who arrived at the scene Sunday morning were fired on and returned fire. Two hostages were eventually released, and Condon gave up after police fired tear gas into the home.

District Attorney Christopher Almy told WZON-AM that the incident was premeditated. He said 27-year-old Nicholas Condon purchased ammunition and duct tape before going to the home of his former girlfriend.

Condon, who made his initial court appearance Monday, is charged with two counts of kidnapping and burglary with a firearm.
