Maine is under a blizzard watch, according to the National Weather Service. Meteorologists at WGME are predicting central and western Maine will get from 8 to 20 inches of snow by Sunday night.

The hardest hit areas of the state will be coastal Maine from Portland north, possibly getting 18 to 24 inches of snow. A swath of Maine north of that, including Lewiston-Auburn, is expected to receive 12 to 20 inches, along with sustained winds of 25 to 30 mph and gusts up to 45 mph.

The storm is expected to arrive Saturday afternoon, with the heaviest snow falling Saturday night through midday Sunday. Sunshine should return Monday, according to meteorologists.
