1926 – 2015

EAST DIXFIELD — Clayton Coe LaPlant, 88, of East Dixfield, died Wednesday morning, Feb. 18, at his son’s home with his family at his side.

He was born in Dixfield on Nov. 29, 1926, a son of William and Addie Sampson LaPlant Sr.

While a junior in high school, Clayton was drafted by the United States Army during World War II. He was employed for many years at Oxford Paper in Rumford and later at Morrison Motors in Mexico, where he worked as a truck mechanic for 35 years.

He was a former member of the Mystic Valley Grange and the Woodland Wanderers Snowmobile Club of Wilton. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 178 of Waterville and had served as captain in the East Dixfield Fire Department for several years.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Arline (Hall) LaPlant of East Dixfield; a son, Thomas and his wife, Vicki, also of East Dixfield; a grandson, Craig and his wife, Hilary, and their sons, Ryker and Easton, of Lyman; a brother, Donald and his wife, Marie, of Wilton.

He was predeceased by a brother, William LaPlant Jr., in 1993.
