FARMINGTON — A Phillips man lost control of his car in slush, causing it to snap a guy wire pole on Route 4 in Fairbanks on Thursday afternoon, police said.

Forest Griffith-Onnen, 25, was traveling south about 2:15 p.m. when the accident occurred, Farmington police Sgt. Edward Hastings IV said at the scene. The driver was alone and not injured, he said.

Griffith-Onnem’s 2003 Subaru Legacy hit a snowbank and the pole, leaving wires dangling across the road. The road was closed from Town Farm Road to South Strong Road until Central Maine Power made repairs, Hastings said.

Deputy Sandy Burke of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and members of Farmington Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene.
