JAY — Selectpersons and the Budget Committee will review a proposed $5.59 million budget Tuesday, Feb. 24, and Wednesday, Feb. 25.

The meetings will be held at 6 p.m. in the library of the Spruce Mountain High School.

The spending package for for 2015-16 represents a $44,631.60 increase from the current budget.

Anticipated revenues are $1.3 million, which is $298,493 less than this year’s budget.

The proposal includes the elimination of a patrolman position on the Police Department and a position on the Public Works Department. In addition, a part-time position in the latter department which is moving to the Transfer Station is factored into that budget, Town Manager Shiloh LaFreniere said.

The budget also reflects increases in electricity, water and hydrant rental costs.
