OXFORD — Daddy O’s diner is on the move to Oxford Plaza.

After almost a month of searching for new premises, co-owner Amanda Ouellette confirmed that the popular restaurant will make the 3-mile move north along Route 26, as first mentioned in a Facebook post on Feb. 21.

Nancy Cushman of Speedway Inc., which owns and leases space inside the mall, confirmed that Ouellette had signed lease agreement for suite 10, the former location of Oxford Casino’s offices. It’s next to Flagship Cinemas.

The decision comes after surveying the public as to which town the diner should move to. After over 400 responses — mostly from people in Oxford — Ouellette said it was clear people wanted it to stay local.

In the coming weeks, the office space will be completely renovated. Kitchen equipment, bar and and seating for around 80 to 100 people will be installed, which would double the diner’s capacity. Ouellette said they hope to be up and running by April 15, the day their current lease expires, so there’s no downtime between closing one location and opening the other.

Inside, she said the new location will look much like the old one. The menu will be the same and — presumably — so will the customers.

“This is definitely a good change. Everything has worked out for the best,” Ouellette said.
