WINTHROP –Winthrop native and master Maine Guide Ben Thomas will speak as part of the Winthrop Library Lakes Region Forum on Tuesday, March 10 at 6:30 p.m. All library events are being held at the temporary library location on the first floor of the Winthrop Commerce Center, 149 Main St. during construction of the addition to the historic Bowdoin Street building.
Thomas is well known for his debut book “No Horns Blowing,” which has been a popular Maine guide to whitewater canoeing for over 40 years. A graduate of the University of Maine, ham-radio operator, and float-plane pilot, Thomas is the author of six books and a number of articles that have appeared in numerous national magazines. Thomas teaches creative writing at the University of Maine Augusta Senior College and more recently has begun publishing Maine-based teen novels.
Thomas will discuss creative writing, the Maine outdoors, and his latest teen novel “The Scorpion Riddle” at the talk. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call the library at 207-377-8673.
