RANGELEY — Selectmen unanimously voted Monday to appoint Traci Pitt as administrative assistant, based on the recommendation of interim Town Manager Tim Pellerin.

The board appointed Jean Stewart to the Budget Committee until June 2016.

Selectmen set a public hearing for 5 p.m. Monday, April 6, at the Town Office on construction planned for Main Street and Loon Lake Road to create safe sidewalk routes to Rangeley Lakes Regional School.

The board obtained a grant years ago for the work and sent notices to abutting landowners, but some abutters have since said they were not contacted about the project.

A representative from the Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments spoke to selectmen about the pros and cons of both methods of recycling that Rangeley is considering: single-stream and pay-as-you-go. The board is undecided and is planning a trip to inspect other facilities that use these methods.

Selectmen awarded a three-year contract to RJD Appraisals for assessing services.

In response to the board’s order to provide updates for the town’s website, Town  Clerk Ethna Thompson said she sent information packets to all department heads asking for detailed information as they wish it to appear on their pages. She has received proposals from two Web design vendors and has scheduled interviews with both.

The Finance Department presented bond rates and information as well as budget binders to the board, and the final draft of the fireworks ordinance is ready to go to the Ordinance Committee.
