AUBURN — BJ’s Charitable Foundation recently presented the Good Shepherd Food-Bank with a $21,000 grant in celebration of the retailer’s 30th anniversary.
The grant was one of 30 given to food banks nationwide in areas where BJ’s has stores, totalling $700,000. The purpose is to increase the food storage capacity for local anti-hunger organizations.
Good Shepherd Food-Bank has used the money to provide refrigeration units to Sebago Warming Hut, Area Interfaith Food Pantry in Fairfield and River Rock Christian Fellowship – Chelsea Foodbank in Chelsea. Such smaller partner organizations and charities often have limited equipment, hindering their ability to service their communities.
