AUBURN — Six people were indicted Wednesday in connection with a December home invasion in Poland during which police said the suspects robbed and beat at least one of the victims with a baseball bat and a hammer.
Five of those indicted by an Androscoggin County grand jury were at the Page Road home on Dec. 11, 2014, according to court papers. A sixth person was indicted on a drug charge stemming from the home invasion investigation.
In an affidavit written by Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department Detective Kevin Nichols, a deputy went to the home of Timothy, Tyler and Cody Page shortly before 9:30 p.m. Timothy Page told the deputy that Shawna Wilson, 37, of Mechanic Falls had called him seeking a loan. He told her he could lend her money from a Christmas bonus he recently recieved.
When she later arrived at his home, she was followed half a minute later by three men wearing ski masks and armed with baseball bats and a hammer.
Nichols wrote that the men with bats began swinging them, striking doors and threatening Tyler, a son of Timothy Page, who gave the men $1,000 in cash. Tyler Page handed over cash from his pockets.
Cody Page and a friend had been in a back room where they were threatened by a man with a bat, according to Timothy Page, Nichols wrote.
When Tyler Page attempted to confront the men, he was struck in the head with a baseball bat. Another man hit him in the eye with a hammer, causing a serious laceration, Timothy Page told authorities. Tyler Page was taken to a hospital.
Timothy Page said he heard Wilson yell: “OK, enough. We have to get out of here.”
She and the men ran out the door and drove off in a dark-colored SUV, Timothy Page said.
Tyler Page described the men and a woman to authorities and corroborated his father’s version of events.
Indicted were:
* Lee A. Brown, 49, of 45 Lewiston St., Mechanic Falls, one count of robbery;
* Adam Douglas McIntosh, 32, of Freeport, one count of robbery;
* Terry L. Small, 47, of 9 Callahan Circle, Mechanic Falls; robbery and unlawful possession of scheduled drugs;
* Diana L. Driscoll-Connolly, 39, of 9 Callahan Circle, Mechanic Falls; robbery and unlawful possession of scheduled drugs;
* Wilson of 77 Elm St., Mechanic Falls, robbery and violation of condition of release; and
* Christan Bove, 36, of 45 Lewiston St., Mechanic Falls, one count of unlawful possession of scheduled drugs.
Wilson told authorities that she abuses drugs and is enrolled in the drug court program. She said she called Timothy Page in hopes of buying heroin from Tyler Page. She was with Brown and Bove when Driscoll-Connolly, who drives a dark-colored SUV, and her boyfriend, Small, picked up her and Brown and drove them to the Pages’ house. Wilson said she entered the home to make the purchase, when Lee, Driscoll-Connolly and Small came in behind her and demanded drugs from Timothy and Tyler Page.
Wilson said Lee was armed with a hammer. Another man wielded a baseball bat. Wilson said she heard a “finger of heroin” hit the floor, according to Nichols’ affidavit.
She said Brown struck Tyler Page with a hammer; the other man hit him with a baseball bat. She said she screamed for them to leave and they fled in Driscoll-Connolly’s SUV.
Authorities executed a search warrant for Brown’s home in Mechanic Falls and seized five hammers, an aluminum baseball bat, marijuana and a baggie of heroin, according to Nichols’ affidavit.
Brown, Bove and McIntosh also were interviewed by authorities. Brown said he was drunk and never went into the Page home.
A baggie of heroin was found in a pocketbook belonging to Bove, Nichols’ wrote.
Small told authorities that he went to the Page’s mobile home in Driscoll-Connolly’s SUV. Another woman and two other men were in the vehicle, he said. Small said he carried a bat with him. He said Brown hit a shirtless man in the head with a bat. The man threw a bag of dope on the floor, saying, “Take it, it’s all I have.”
Authorities found heroin hidden in Driscoll-Connolly’s underwear drawer.
