TEMPLE — When voters take up 53 articles at Monday’s town meeting, they’ll notice a small increase in the overall budget, Selectman Jean Mitchell said.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. March 9 at the Town Office, 258 Temple Road.

The town clerk and treasurer have proposed salary increases, but even with the small budget hike, it pales in comparison to last year, Mitchell said.

“Part of it might have been the valuation, but we also didn’t get quite as much from revenue-sharing,” she said.

Mitchell will not be running for re-election. It’s the only office up for election.

Among the articles is one asking fir the town should join the Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments in Auburn. Mitchell said every town in the area, except Temple and Industry, belong to the organization.

“It does have its advantages as far as doing cooperative kinds of things,” she said. “You can buy things such as salt in bulk.”

More people are needed for town committees, Mitchell said.

“One of the hardest things is getting people on committees,” she said. “We would like to get a Recreation Committee started.”

The Temple Fire Auxiliary will have baked goods for sale to help the Fire Department.
