GREENE — It took less than an hour for the 42 residents attending Saturday’s town meeting at Greene Central School gymnasium to pass all 55 articles.

The 2015 town budget is slightly less than $2.5 million.

Spending recommendations from selectmen and the Budget Committee were identical except for charities.

Voters approved $7,650 for charities, which includes $500 more for Rural Community Action Ministry. The Budget Committee recommended $7,150; selectmen, $7,650.

RCAM is based in Leeds and its mission is to eradicate homelessness and hunger in Greene and several nearby towns.

Town Manager Charles A. Noonan said he believes wide acceptance of technology throughout the town is the principal reason for this year’s speedy town meeting. He said residents make year-round use of the town’s online services.

“They come to the Town Office or they make good use of email when they have questions,” he said. “They don’t wait for town meeting.”

Noonan added that many citizens follow meetings of selectmen and boards on WGLT TV7, the town’s local access television channel.

In his report, Noonan said there is concern about “the continued loss of state funding to municipal and school entities.” Greene could lose $170,000 in municipal revenue-sharing, he said.

“Depending on the outcome of the Legislature’s action, a special town meeting may be needed” to address those issues prior to the June 15 commitment date for taxes, Noonan said.

In town elections Friday, Kevin Mower was re-elected to the Board of Selectmen and John Soucy won re-election to the SAD 52 board. Both positions are for three years.

All members of the Greene Budget Committee were re-elected: Anthony Reny, Brent Armstrong, Holly Ewing, Steve Goulet, Robin Healey, Robert Hodgkins, Phil Lavoie, Daniel Moreau, Philippe Moreau, Bruce Tufts and Freeland Witham.

Christine Gianoupoulos was chosen for the Julia Adams Morse Library board. Susan Bubier and John Fogg were chosen for the Ella A. Thompson Fund Committee.
