RANGELEY — Memorial services for Charlie “Banana’s” Raymond of Rangeley were held Saturday, March 7, at 1 p.m., at the Church of the Good Shepherd on Main Street in Rangeley, with the Rev. Jud Pealer officiating, assisted by Barry Libby as the altar server.
Sue Borko provided the music ministry. “O God Our Help In Ages Past” was the opening anthem, followed by prayers for Charlie and the family. Jean Stewart offered the first reading from Ecclesiastes 3:1-15, followed by the Rev. Pealer reading the 23rd Psalm. Barry Libby recited the second reading of Revelation 21:2-7. “There’s a Wideness in God’s Mercy” was the next hymn, followed by the reading of John 6:37-40.
The Rev. Pealer offered the sermon, followed by the prayers and the offering of the peace. “The Old Rugged Cross” preceded the Eucharistic Prayer and communion, with the communion hymn of “How Great Thou Art.” Daughter-in-law Patricia Raymond offered words of remembrance on behalf of the family, which was followed by military honors performed by members of the Maine Military Funeral Honors Program. “Amazing Grace” was the closing hymn, with Cliff “Turtle” Raymond leading the procession as urn bearer.
Following services, refreshments, visiting and a memorial video was held in the undercroft of the church, hosted by the Episcopal Church Women. Interment will be in the summer at Evergreen Cemetery in Rangeley.
Cremation and memorial services were cared for and provided by Wiles Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Road, Farmington.
