PORTLAND — Nine bands and artists from multiple generations to perform together for a one-day event, consisting of two concerts that honor and showcase Maine music in the Third Annual State of the State concert event held at the State Theatre and One Longfellow Square on Saturday, March 21. The theme of the event is: “Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow of Maine Music.”
The Yesterday Concert, celebrating the history of Maine music, and held at One Longfellow Square from 1 to 3:30 p.m., will feature Maine folk legend Dave Mallett, Tricky Britches, Tumbling Bones, and singer-songwriter Denny Breau. The artists will be accompanied by students from Maine Youth Rock Orchestra for two songs each. Tickets $20.
The Today & Tomorrow Concert, from 7 to 10:30 p.m.,. at the State Theatre, will feature a reunion show of Maine alternative rock stalwarts 6Gig, along with Spencer Albee, Crusoe, When Particles Collide, and Maine Music Hoodie winner Tall Horse with some special guests announced soon. All Today & Tomorrow artists will also be accompanied by students from Maine Youth Rock Orchestra for two songs each.
