JAY — The chairman of the Franklin County commissioners informed selectpersons Monday that the start of the 2015-16 budget process has been moved to April 21 and 22.
Commissioners were set to begin review in early April but to accommodate a commissioner’s medical appointment it was changed, Commissioner Gary McGrane of Jay said.
He invited selectpersons Tim DeMillo and Tom Goding, both members of the Franklin County Budget Advisory Committee, to attend the commissioners’ review of the proposed budget.
The first day of review is a half day while the second is a full day.
All Budget Committee members are invited to participate in the budget process that begins with commissioners reviewing draft budget proposals. Once commissioners are done, the proposal goes to the budget panel.
In some cases, panel members do not require department heads or representatives of organizations requesting program grants to attend a second meeting because they heard the information during the commissioners’ review.
McGrane said the budget books should be available next week.
