WISCASSET (AP) — Two Maine jail inmates are in more legal trouble after falsely accusing a guard of sexual assault.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department says 25-year-old Brandon Knowles told authorities that a female corrections officer at the Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset touched his genitals Saturday in a secluded area of the jail.
Another inmate, 26-year-old Cory Breen, said he was in the area at the same time and backed up Knowles’ account.
But a detective reviewed security video from the jail and quickly determined that the complaint had been fabricated.
Now Knowles is charged with making a false public report and Breen is charged with hindering an investigation.
