LEWISTON — The L & A Veterans Council is organizing the Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony to be held starting at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 23. The parade route will go through Lewiston and Auburn, with a ceremony starting at 10:30 a.m. at Veteran’s Park.
The council is asking all veterans, military and fraternal organizations, military vehicles, Boy and Girl Scouts and units, including ROTC Air Force Cadets and Young Marines, to participate in the parade. Horse riders, antique vehicles and patriotic groups are also welcome. Call to register for the parade.
A stone, with 216 names on it and with the emblem of the Sea Bees on the top, and a new granite bench in memory of Jerry Der Bhogosian, will be unveiled. Der Bhogosian, a veteran, was a founder of the L & A Veterans Council.
There will be speakers, Just Us entertainers, a memorial service with “Taps” and cannons firing during the ceremony.
