1920 – 2015

AUBURN — Eudore J. “Lou” Berube, 94, formerly of 10 Oak Park, Lewiston, died Tuesday, April 28, at the Bolster Heights Residential Care facility in Auburn, where he had been a resident for the past five years.

Born in Lewiston on Oct. 22, 1920, he was the son of Elzear and Eugenie Lalonde Berube. He was educated in Lewiston schools.

Eudore worked in the local shoe industry for many years, most notably at the Bonafide and Knapp Shoe shops.

On June 30, 1945, he married the former Beatrice Y. Marcotte, who passed away on April 5, 2004. Eudore, known as Lou to his friends, was a boxer in his younger years and was a lifelong fan of the sport. He was an avid reader and was a regular at the Lewiston Public Library, where he taught himself English. He also enjoyed fishing and loved a good game of checkers.

Survivors include two daughters, Jeanette and husband, Ronald Beavers, of Newton, Ill., and Grace and husband, Ronald Morrill, of Olney, Ill.; a stepson, Ray Reynolds and wife, Linda, of Zephyrhills, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and Roland; a sister, Germaine Guenette; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
