4-0 deficit and Luke Sterling’s suicide squeeze put the Red Eddies over the top with a 5-4 victory over Bangor in a baseball game Thursday.
The scored was tied 4-4 going in the bottom of the eighth inning when Elijah Roe singled and Tyler Blanchard bunted. The Rams tried to get Roe at second but failed.
With Roe at second, Brandon Knapp had a sacrifice bunt, moving the runners to a second-and third situation. Sterling had a suicide squeeze and Roe came home with the winning run.
Knapp also got the win on the mound when he came in relief in the top of the eighth inning.
EL’s Drew Lashua had three hits and Roe and Blanchard each had two. For the Rams, Andrew Hillier singled and had an RBI double, and Jordan Derrah smacked two singles.
Softball
Buckfield 9, Rangeley 5
BUCKFIELD — Brianna Damon and double, Ashley Campbell doubled twice and Mackenzie Richardson tripled, steering Buckfield to a 9-5 win over Rangeley in a softball game Thursday.
The Rangers held a 5-3 lead through three innings before the undefeated Bucks reeled off six runs over the next three.
Pitcher Abby Shields got the win. Alexis Bennett and Campbell were credited with two hits for the Bucks (3-0).
Bangor 6, Edward Little 0
AUBURN — Kylie Cunningham had a hit and two RBIs in the Bangor Rams’ 6-0 victory over the Edward Little Red Eddies on Thursday afternoon.
Emily Gilmoure led the Rams (4-0) with two hits and scored twice, while Sarah Bragg had a double. Bangor did their damage in the first inning with two runs and added another four runs in the third inning.
Calli Murray had a double for Edward Little (2-2).
Girls’ lacrosse
Erskine 6, Edward Little 5
AUBURN — Michelle Lenelin scored four goals, including the game-winner, as Erskine Academy sidestepped Edward Little 6-5 in a girls’ lacrosse game Thursday.
The score was tied 3-3 at the half.
Christan Hodgkins scored the other two goals for Erskine.
For the Red Eddies, Danielle Gagne turned in a hat trick and Fran Haines and Kaylee Jipson each scored one.
