PARIS — Bayley West fired a no-hitter Friday as Oxford Hills shut down Skowhegan, 6-0, in a MVC baseball matchup.

Jake Spinhirn led the Vikings (4-1) with two hits and one RBI, while Aiden Heikkinen and Braden Bean each pounded out two hits.

Nate Morris worked the first two frames for Skowhegan (1-3) and was tagged with the loss.

Lisbon 14, Mt. Abram 1

SALEM — The Lisbon Greyhounds scored six times in the second inning as it defeated Mt. Abram 14-1 in a baseball game Friday afternoon.

Ryley Austin, Kyle Bourget and Austin Fournier each had two hits with a double while driving in one run in the game for Lisbon (3-0). Joe Philbrick and Troy Galrneau each had two hits and an RBI.

Tyler Halls picked up the win, going three innings and striking out seven. Noah Francis finished the five-inning mercy rule game going two innings as four went down by the way of the K. The duo combined for a no-hitter.

Mt. Abram is now 0-3.

Mountain Valley 5, Madison 4

MADISON — Junior pitcher Tim Fitzgerald smashed a key double in the fifth inning to help his own cause as Mountain Valley notched a 5-4 win over Madison in MVC baseball action Friday afternoon.

The Falcons (2-2) took a 5-2 lead in the fifth inning and held off the Bulldogs (2-2) from gathering too much steam over the final three home frames.

Taylor Gauvin contributed to the Mountain Valley offense with two hits, including a run and an RBI.

Catcher Evan Bess had two hits and two RBIs for Madison.

Winthrop 11, Boothbay 7

WINTRHOP — Matt Sekerak came on in relief in the seventh inning with bases loaded to retire the final batter on three strikes as Winthrop held on for a 11-7 victory over Boothbay in MVC baseball action Friday afternoon.

The Ramblers (3-0) were trailing 6-1 in the third, when they rebounded for three in the third and another three in the fourth to tie the game at 7-7. Junior short stop Cabot Lancaster had two hits, three runs, an RBI, and stole four bases for Winthrop.

Seagull’s (0-3) pitcher Gary Vise went 2-for-4 with two RBI’s and two runs.

Greely 11, Poland 3

POLAND — Will Bryant recorded three hits, including a home run, to lead Greely to an 11-3 triumph over Poland in baseball action Friday afternoon.

The Rangers (3-0) turned up the tempo after the third inning, scoring four runs in each of the fourth and sixth innings. Cal Soule crossed the plate four times for Greely.

Adam Mocciola singled, sacrificed and plated a run for the Knights (1-5), while Alex Biron scored twice.

St. Dom’s 13, Wiscasset 7

AUBURN — Senior first baseman Caleb Labrie and freshman catcher Gavin Bates hit back-to-back doubles in the five-run fourth inning as St. Dom’s cruised to a 13-7 victory over Wiscasset in MVC softball action Friday.

The Saints (3-1) scored two in the second inning for an early lead, and rattled off another three unanswered runs in the late going.

Senior second baseman Bryson Grover provided three hits, including a two-run single for the Wolverines (0-2).

Gardiner 9, Spruce Mountain 7

JAY — Logan Peacock’s two-run home run in the sixth inning was the difference in the Gardiner Tigers 9-7 victory over the Spruce Mountain Phoenix in a KVAC baseball game.

It was one of his two hits on the afternoon and he finished with three RBIs. The Tigers (4-1) had six players with two hits.

Noah Preble led the Phoenix (2-3) with three hits while Bradley Hodges and Caulin Parker each had two hits. One of Parker’s hits was a double.

Spruce Mountain squander its chances as the Phoenix had the bases loaded three times and stranded 11 runner on base.

Mt. Blue 12, Mt. Ararat 0

FARMINGTON — Brad Durrell doubled twice and singled and pitcher Ryan Pratt threw a shutout as Mt. Blue landed on Mt. Ararat with a 12-0 victory in a baseball game Friday.

Aftter six innings, the Cougars (4-1) were firmly in control with a 6-0 lead. For the afternoon, Mt. Blue collected 12 hits and didn’t make an error.

Pratt, Anthony Franchetti and Lawrence each had two hits. For Mt. Ararat, Kevin Carter had two hits.

EL 12, Hampden 0

HAMPDEN — Damien St. Pierre threw a 5-hit shutout and Elijah Roe had a two-run RBI double as Edward Little thrashed Hampden Academy 12-0 in a baseball game Friday.

No runs were scored through three innings, but the Red Eddies (3-2) came to life in the next three innings, score 12 runs using 12 hits.

Tyler Blanchard ripped a triple for Edward Little and Lew Jensen hammered out three hits and brought in a pair of runs. Catcher Brandon Varney drove in two runs with two hits. For Hampden, Jordan Dysart had two hits.

Messalonskee 10, Lewiston 1

LEWISTON — Jacob Dexter hurled seven innings of no-hit baseball Friday as Messalonskee rolled to a 10-1 rout over Lewiston in a KVAC tilt.

Dexter also helped the Eagles’ (4-0) cause with three hits and two RBIs in a well-rounded effort. Zach Matthew also contributed with two hits and two RBIs.

The winless Blue Devils (0-5) utilzed three pitchers, with starter Austin Wing working the first four frames.

Waterville 9, Leavitt 3

TURNER — AJ Godin scattered three hits and drew ample run support as Waterville outgunned Leavitt, 9-3, in more KVAC baseball action.

Godin helped his own cause with a pair of hits, while Cam Gardiner and Ben Cox also belted out two hits each.

The Hornets were paced by Julian Kirouac with four hits, while Mitchell Davis added two.

Boys’ lacrosse

Lewiston 15, Oxford Hills 2

PARIS — Nick Tilley led a group of seven players to register goals Friday as Lewiston overpowered Oxford Hills, 15-2, in a KVAC boys’ lacrosse tilt.

Tilley led the Blue Devils (5-0) with three goals, while Alex Rivet, Roman Dennis and Griffin Wade each added two. Jayden Wilson, Gunnar Wade, Mohamed Khalid, Darius Phillips, Tyler County and Pat Racine also tallied to complete the scoring.

Bryan Wagg made four saves for Lewiston in a stellar effort.

Softball

St. Dom’s 18, Wiscasset 6

AUBURN — Allie Veinote scattered five hits in five innings Friday as St. Dom’s overpowered Wiscasset, 18-6, in more KVAC softball action.

The Saints (1-1) exploded for 13 runs in the fourth inning to set the tone.

The Wolverines (0-2) scored in each of the first three frames yet went silent in the fourth.

Dirigo 6, Oak Hill 3

WALES — Megan Bradley’s double ignited a four-run rally in the fifth inning as Dirigo sped away to post a 6-3 victory over Oak Hill in more MVC softball action Friday.

Kaitlin Morang led the Cougars (3-1) with two hits and one RBI, while Brittany Greig also pounded out two hits.

The Raiders (1-3) put five hits on the board, while starter Michaela Nadeau suffered the loss.

Mt. Blue 7, Mt. Ararat 1

FARMINGTON — Caitlin Kane scattered three hits in seven innings and drew adequate run support as Mt. Blue hustled to a 7-1 win over Mt. Ararat.

Rachele Bator led the Cougars (2-3) with a two-run homer in the first frame. Brandi Harris also contributed with an RBI single, while Kane helped her own cause with an RBI double.

Alana Weaver went the distance for the Eagles (2-3) and suffered the loss.

Messalonskee 14, Lewiston 5

LEWISTON — Kirsten Pelletier scattered four hits and drew all kinds of run support as Messalonskee hustled to a 14-5 KVAC victory over Lewiston on Friday.

Dakota Bragg and Sarah Labbe each smashed two-run home runs for the Eagles on a day when the bats were hot. Bragg and Madison Charest led their squad with three hits each, while Kelsey Pillon and Hannah Dupray each had two hits.

The winless Blue Devils (0-4) were paced by Meagan Gosselin with an RBI triple, while Makayla Girouard suffered the loss.

Lisbon 22, Mt. Abram 3

SALEM — Lisbon erupted for 12 runs in the seventh inning Friday and came away with a 22-3 victory over Mt. Abram in a softball game

Kaylyn Hill gave up just three hits for the Greyhounds (2-0). Monica Austin belted out a two-run double in the third before the offense shifted into high gear.

Olivia Ryan went the distance for Mt. Abram and was tagged with the loss.

Telstar 9, Carrabec 3

NORTH ANSON — Becca Howard had two hits and a triple and drove in three runs as Telstar sidestepped Carrabec with 9-3 victory in a softball game Friday.

Telstar broke the game open in the third and fourth innings, scoring six runs and adding another two in the seventh. Catcher Sadie Ellsworth drove in two runs with her two singles and a double. Tehya Johnson punched out an RBI triple for the undefeated Rebels (3-0)

For the Cobras (1-3), Baylee Atwood had two hits and catcher Bailey Dunphy singled and drove in a run.

Edward Little 7, Hampden 0

HAMPDEN — Sarah Hammond gave up two hits, struck out seven and drew ample run support as Edward Little shut down Hampden, 7-0, in more KVAC softball action Friday.

Grace Beaudet led the Red Eddies (3-2) with two hits and one RBI. Edward Little jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first frame and was never challenged.

Richmond 7, Buckfield 3

RICHMOND — Freshman catcher Sydney Tilton singled and homered to lead Richmond to a 7-3 victory over Buckfield in EWC softball action Friday.

The Bucks (3-1) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. But the Bobcats (3-0) took advantage of three Buckfield errors to put seven runs on the board. Sophomore pitcher Maranda Martin earned the complete game win, and tallied a pair of singles.

Sophomore pitcher Abby Shields struck out four and walked two for Buckfield.

Skowhegan 7, Oxford Hills 6

PARIS — Skowhegan rallied for three runs in the seventh inning to collect a 7-6 victory over Oxford Hills in KVAC softball action Friday.

Montana Saucier and Renee Wright recorded three hits apiece for the Indians (4-0). Saucier collected a triple, while Wright cracked a double.

Senior first baseman Anna Winslow tagged four hits, including a triple for the Vikings (4-1).

College baseball

UMaine 9, NYIT 1

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. — Brian Doran had three hits, four runs and a pair of RBIs to lead the University of Maine to a 9-1 victory over New York Institute of Technology in baseball action Friday afternoon.

The Black Bears took a 2-1 lead in the top of the second inning. Doran singled and Brenden Geary homered to left field.

Maine added two runs in the top of the sixth inning. Luke Morrill walked and Doran belted Maine’s third home run of the game.

Rookie pitcher Justin Courtney of Bangor went the distance on the mound, allowing just one run while tying his career with five strikeouts for the win.

Husson 8, UMF 3

CASTLETON, Vt. — Adam Wilson of Harrison crushed a three-run home run over the left field fence in the fourth inning to change the momentum as Husson knocked the University of Maine at Farmington fro the NAC Tournament with an 8-3 victory at Spartan Field Friday afternoon.

Dustin McCrossin had a strong game at the plate for the Beavers (17-20) with a 3-for-5 day and drove in a pair of runs.

The Eagles were leading 5-3 in the top of the eighth inning when they added three insurance runs on three hits, including a home run and a double.
