AUGUSTA — The Maine Children’s Alliance is accepting nominations for the annual Giraffe Awards, which are given to those who stick their necks out for kids.

The Giraffe Awards program calls attention to the achievements of dedicated volunteers, professionals and organizations who do extraordinary work on behalf of children in Maine

The Giraffe Awards recognize winners in different categories including: outstanding individual award, youth award, organization award, small business award and corporate award.

This year’s event will take place Oct. 27 at The Green Ladle in Lewiston. All nominations must be received by May 15.
